Studio Approach
My practice is grounded in the classical academic tradition, with a strong emphasis on process and revealing the stages of creation through underpaintings and layered techniques. This is why many pieces in my portfolio remain deliberately unfinished, as I believe there is a distinct beauty in exposing the raw stages of making where my experimentation and discovery are the most visible. Alongside my studio work, I completed an MPhil in Education (Arts & Creativity) at the University of Cambridge, where my research explored the role of reflection and process in visual art. This included qualitative research at the London Fine Art Studios, where I explored how traditional atelier methods could be adapted to encourage greater reflection and introspection in students. My fine art training also includes courses at the Florence Academy of Art, Atelier of Fine Art, and the Zwick Academy of Fine Art, all of which have shaped my approach to both technique and teaching.
About Me
I am a London-based fine artist specializing in oil painting, with a deep passion for both art and art history. Portraiture lies at the heart of my practice, as it challenges me to unite technical accuracy with the subtleties that reveal a person’s individuality. I also draw significant inspiration from botanical elements, often incorporating natural forms and symbolism into my work. These motifs allow me to explore connections between the human figure and the organic world, reflecting themes of growth, fragility, and renewal. By intertwining portraiture with these references, I create compositions inspired by the enduring beauty of the natural world.
